However, according to reports, there is currently a group of researchers composed of two characters, Taiwan and Mexico, who have developed a new lighting system that ensures efficient use of LEDs to ensure that LED street lights only illuminate where light is needed, without producing other Unnecessary light.

“One of the unique features of this new LED system is that it can adapt to the streetlight layout of different streets and provide efficient lighting for all kinds of streets and roads,” said Sun Qingcheng, Department of Optoelectronics and Engineering, Central University of Taiwan, China. Say.

This new street lighting system consists of three parts. The first one contains a string of LEDs, each of which is equipped with a device called a total internal reflection lens that collects light and precisely controls the direction of the beam so that the rays are emitted in parallel without crossing each other.

These lenses are mounted in a reflective cavity to recover light, ensuring that they can be used more to illuminate the policy, which is the second part of the system. The third is some of its outermost light filtering equipment, which is designed to reduce unwanted glare. With this unique structure, the researchers can control the shape of the beam. The current preliminary design of the beam shape is rectangular, which is very suitable for road lighting.

Researchers use light utilization to quantify the performance of LED streetlights. The higher the light utilization, the better the streetlight performance. Computer simulation results show that the light utilization rate of this new street lamp system can reach 50% to 80%, far exceeding 44% of current ordinary street lamps. In addition, compared with traditional street lamps, this new street lamp is brighter, more energy efficient, and less prone to glare, eliminating light pollution.
